Who We Are?
We started Funky Bunch Pet Care with a simple belief: “Good enough” isn’t good enough—for pets or their people.
It didn’t take long to realize that pet care has a pretty low bar. There’s very little oversight, no required training, and no consistent expectations. Anyone can call themselves a pet sitter. But pets aren’t just pets. Homes aren’t just houses. And trust isn’t something you casually hand over.
So we decided to do things differently.
We believe every pet deserves gentle, patient, respectful care.
We believe being welcomed into your home is a responsibility, not a transaction.
We believe reliability matters—when we say yes, we mean it.
And we believe excellence isn’t about doing the bare minimum—it’s about doing things well, on purpose.
That’s why our team is insured, background-checked, CPR & First Aid certified, and Fear Free trained. It’s why we invest in ongoing education through organizations like PSI and NAPPS. And it’s why we’ve built systems and protocols that protect pets, respect homes, and support the people caring for them.
Doing things the right way isn’t the hard way—it’s just the right way.
Funky Bunch started with one very special dog named Kobe. He was family, and his care reflected that. Every pet we’ve cared for since has deserved the same level of thoughtfulness, devotion, and heart.

Meet the Owners
Meghan Funkhouser - Founder
A science nerd, turned pet sitter. Meghan was raised in St. Louis, MO and attended Missouri State University, where she met Collin. Caring for pets has always been one of her loves, which is where Funky Bunch started. Ten years later she’s more passionate than ever to bring the absolute best care to you and your pets.
Collin Funkhouser - Pack Leader
Collin was born and raised in Rogersville, MO and spent his time collecting bugs and playing in band. While at Missouri State University, pursuing a biology degree, he met Meghan. They soon began pet sitting and caring for dogs. After a brief stint working in conservation, he is thrilled to be living his passion full-time, caring for your pet!

Founded in 2012, Funky Bunch Pet Care began with a slightly crazy idea: pet care could be more than a service—it could be a true partnership with pet parents.
Meghan and Collin started pet sitting while in graduate school as a way to earn extra income. What began as a side hustle quickly became a calling—and eventually, our full-time work.
With the support of our community and the dedication of an incredible team, Funky Bunch has grown thoughtfully over the years. Along the way, we’ve learned a lot, raised our standards, and deepened our commitment to making life better for pets—and easier for the people who love them.

Amber - Pet Care Specialist

Hello, my name is Amber! I am a mom, wife, gaming nerd, and coffee lover. I've lived in Missouri on and off my whole life. I graduated in Republic where I met my husband and we now live in Nixa. We have 5 kids, three of them having four legs. Holly is our sassy pitbull, Roxy is a shepard mix and momma of our pack, and old man Joe is a lab. I have two beautiful daughters that keep me on my toes. We love lazy lake days and playing Mario party!I am so very excited for the opportunity to care for your pets. I promise to show them love and shower them with cuddles like I would my own.
Courtney - Pet Care Specialist

My name is Courtney! I am a wife, bookworm, coffee enthusiast, outdoors lover, and professional pet snuggler (this last one is self-titled, unfortunately. Is there a championship I can attend for this though?) I have lived in Missouri for most of my life, but I moved to Springfield when I married my husband. We have a rambunctious cat named Princess (AKA: "Ma'am" whenever she's in trouble), and I hope to convince my husband to let us get another furry friend soon. Growing up, I had two dogs, Lily and Finnegan, and I also had experience with farm animals at my cousin's farm. I couldn't be happier to join the Funky Bunch team, and I promise to treat your furry (and scaly) friends with as much love as I give my own.
Greg - Pet Care Specialist

Hello, I’m Greg married 42 years to my wife Donna. We have 3 great kids, Robert, Ashley, and Ryan. We currently have two wonderful pet members of the family, Roxy the rottweiler and Gabby the cat. When I’m not working with Funky Bunch, I spend my time at Isabel’s House, caring for the kids.

Hi, my name is Ryan. I have one amazing cat named Molly. I am a huge movie fan and when not at work can always be found at the theater watching the newest movies as well as the older ones. I have grown up with several dogs and cats throughout my life. And enjoy getting to love on all animals that I can.
Dave - Pet Care Specialist

Howdy all, I’m Dave and if I’m not playing with my dogs or watching Lebron James highlights, you can find me raising various waterfowl. Some of my other hobbies include playing/watching basketball, reading, and playing Magic the Gathering. Two of my first loves in life were cleaning and animals, so you can trust me to have all your ducks in a row!
Sarah - Pet Care Specialist

Hi! I’m Sarah, and I’m so excited to be part of the Funky Bunch team! I’ve always had a soft spot for animals of all kinds—I grew up with dogs, and over the years I’ve cared for everything from ferrets to hamsters to my current crew: Beanie the cat, Pig the beagle, and Little Foot, our very chill leopard gecko.
I’m a mom of three, and all my kids are just as animal-obsessed as I am—my middle even dreams of becoming a zookeeper someday! At home and on the job, I’m known for being nurturing and patient. I know how important it is to feel confident that your pets are in good hands, and I’m here to offer that peace of mind.
Whether it’s belly rubs, chin scratches, or just sitting nearby for company, I’ll treat your pets like my own—with love, respect, and lots of care.

Hello! Since my time in the military I have really looked to where I can make a positive impact in my community but I also value time with my wife of 18 yrs and our teenage son. Can't forget our three little fuzzy puppers! I feel that giving me the privilege of working with your family members whether furry or scaly or what have you, so you can get time with your family and have the peace of mind that I am taking care of your family back home and your home is secure as well. Hello! My name is Caroline. I am currently attending Ozarks Technical College looking to pursue a career in healthcare, specifically respiratory therapy. I was born in St. Joe, Missouri but have moved around the Midwest until my family finally settled down here in Springfield.
I have worked at dog daycare centers, pet sat in my free time, volunteered at an animal shelter, and have had many pets of my own, including dogs, cats, fish, mules, and more! I have a four-month-old miniature dachshund named Wally and two poodle mixes, Ringo and McCartney.

Hello! I'm Sean, a gaming enthusiast and part time 3D Architectural Model Designer! I moved to Springfield in 2022 with my girlfriend and our Ringneck Dove, Aviana. Hello, my name is Chante' Melick. l'm looking forward to the new friendships and opportunities along the way.
My amazing husband, Jacob, and I have been together since 2009. We've resided in Missouri for most of our lives. We are raising a son and 3 dogs together. All of us enjoy being outdoors, playing sports, and eating good food.
Being part of Funky Bunch is important to me because, ever since I was a child I've been involved with caring for animals. Now that I'm older, I am eager to continue that passion for pet care.

Hello, my name is Danielle. I was born and raised in Sedalia, where I've spent most of my life. I have a daughter in her early 20's and a son about to enter his 20's. I also have 3 fur babies who keep me company on a daily basis, now that my youngest is off to college.
When I'm not working I love to spend time with my children, watch documentaries, cook and snuggle my animals.Helping others has always been a huge passion for me. Making others happy, makes me happy. This includes people and animals alike.
When I saw the opportunity to work for Funky Bunch, I jumped at the chance. We take care of your animals when you're away, giving you peace of mind that they are well loved and cared for. I look forward to building many relationships with you and your pets!!!
Kobe (2008-2024)
Kobe was our dachshund, adopted from Dusty Puddles Dachshund Rescue. He wasn’t just our first dog—he was family.
Kobe shaped how we think about care, patience, and showing up fully for the pets who rely on us. He remains our inspiration and the heart behind everything we do at Funky Bunch.
If you are looking for a pet sitter look no further. Funky Bunch is the BEST. They took the time to get to know one of our dogs who can be difficult with strangers in his home but now he is SO excited to see them. Our dogs love them and we do too. Funky Bunch provided us with peace of mind while we were on vacation by sending pictures and updates with every visit. They even took in our mail and watered the plants. What more could you ask for? We continue to use their services and would recommend them to anyone who asks! - Meagan
